GES
: Hello Christophe, thank you for accepting this interview
on GuitarEuroShop !
Christophe : Thanks a lot ! It' s always a pleasure for me to speak
about my work !
GES : When did you started to play guitar, and why this instrument ?
Christophe : I' ve started to play guitar at 13, after discovering
guitar players like Eddie
Van Halen and Angus Young, then Allan Holdsworth on one of the Jean-Luc Ponty'
s album.
GES : Your music contains a lot of fun, and it' s not recent, in the Morglbl Trio
band humor was very
present… I guess life is not boring with you !! Are their some artists who
directly influenced you ?
Christophe : The Beatles and Franck Zappa' s music were sometimes
so fun. I usually tell Joe Jackson, who has influenced me as a compositor,
and I want to speak about Gotlib, a comic book creator, his art is quiet
linked to music.
GES : It seems that you exclusively plays on Vigier guitars and Laney amps,
do you have some particular contacts with them ?
Christophe : I have with Patrice and his team, and Laney team on
the other side, some very friendly contacts ! There is a true listening
from us, regarding the artists requests, and the need to create a real
evolution on instruments. I feel very lucky to work with them.
GES : Let' s talk about your new album, Metal Kartoon ! It' s available
thrue a new Label which name is "Why Note", can you tell us more on it ?
Christophe : They are two salers who worked for Next Music, then
for Nocturne: Stéphane Bergeon and Stéphane
Jumelle. We already worked together with Gnô, we know each other from the Mörglbl
period. Their project is a label where each musician is not just a product,
and with a real promotion to support them.
GES : Like I said there is lots of fun in your music,
how come ideas like David Vincent, or "le triangle des bermudas" ?
You seems very attracted by science fiction !
Christophe : It comes more from 70/80' s TV culture, feeding my
imagination, and also comic books. I' ve always loved humor "à la" Monthy Python, or Pierre Desproges.
I think that what is actually given to us is not so interesting.
Everything is so easy !! Some rarities still exist but you have to find
them…
GES : Otherwise there are some more serious thems like on the track « L’ expérience ».
Christophe : I think that racists are the real persons to eliminate.
GES : You play with a "real" band, are you going to tour with them ?
Christophe : Of course ! Ivan (bass), Jean-Pierre (drums) and
Jérôme (violin/keyboards) are fantastics musicians and showmen
!!! I' m very excited with them because they can play every kind of musics,
and can put this little things that every great musicians know how to do !
They are my dream team for this projet !
GES : Your concerts are reputed for their hilarious ambients, you are
sometimes costumed, and between the songs the crowd laugh a lot !
Christophe : Absolutly. I try to give Metal
Kartoon' s concerts a music-hall feeling, and more between songs.
GES :
I' m sure you prepare some surprises ! May be will we see you with a super
heroe dress during the tour ?? It would be very original !
Christophe : Who knows ? Everything can happen ! EVERYTHING !
GES : May be can we find you tour dates on your website,
for those who don' t know it can you give us the adress ?
Christophe : There are : www.christophegodin.com about all of my
activities, and www.metalkartoon.com more on this project.
GES : Do you already have some futur projects ? The kind of things you can'
t say.. excepted for us !! ;o)
Christophe : A second MK, an album with Pierrejean Gaucher, and
some other surprises … I wait that it becomes official !
GES : I want to congratulate you for this new album, I' ve prepared this interview
with it in my CD player, and I think that my day is going to be nice !! I
let you the last word, and thank you again..
Christophe : I thank you for this cool interview,
and for your interest on my work ! I can' t wait to be on the road with
Metal Kartoon and meet people at the shows ! I also want to thanks all the
websites like GuitarEuroshop whose are created by passionated people and
